Rotational viscometers are generally encountered in daily production. The rotational viscometers mainly have the following characteristics:

The axial load of the measuring shaft is mainly supported by hanging wires, or shrapnel, tapered gem bearings, so the precision is low and the friction force is large;

Its torque measurement system has low sensitivity and serious lag in response to instantaneous viscous force;

The rotational speed control system of the rotational viscometer is generally open-loop, and it is difficult to achieve smooth operation under low shear by changing the rotational speed through the gear structure.

The Malvern rheometer is equivalent to an upgraded version of the rotational viscometer. The axial load and radial load of the measuring shaft of the rheometer are supported by air bearings (or magnetic bearings) without mechanical parts, so the measuring shaft has no mechanical parts. Friction, high precision, good reliability and long life. Secondly, the force resistance measurement system composed of air bearing and frictionless sensor has high sensitivity, good repeatability, and can quickly respond to the change of instantaneous viscous force resistance. Finally, the rheometer adopts the negative feedback speed control system to realize stepless speed regulation, and can run smoothly under extremely low shear speed, so the rheometer has good dynamic characteristics, not only can accurately measure the non-Newtonian fluid Steady-state rheological properties can also accurately measure other dynamic properties of fluids - thixotropy, viscoelasticity, yield stress and other indicators.

Therefore, it is not difficult to see that the function of the Malvern rheometer is far stronger than that of the traditional viscometer. It can not only measure the steady-state characteristic of the slurry - viscosity, but also measure the dynamic indicators such as thixotropy and viscoelasticity of the slurry. , which can provide us with more abundant data on the properties of the slurry, which is of great significance for guiding the homogenization and coating process.
